The Society for the Conservation of Nature of Liberia (SCNL), through its Ecological Restoration Fund (ERF) Project, has provided L$1,151,885.00 to the Sebehill Cocoa Cooperative in Lofa County to strengthen cocoa production and improve the livelihoods of local farmers.
The fund was officially disbursed this morning through the Kolahun Community Bank in Kolahun District, Lofa County. The financial support is intended to enable the cooperative to purchase Grade One cocoa beans from its member farmers, ensuring that producers receive fair value for their high-quality cocoa.
This investment reflects SCNL’s commitment to promoting sustainable livelihoods while supporting environmental conservation and restoration efforts. By strengthening local agricultural value chains, the ERF Project is helping rural communities build resilience and improve household incomes.
The support will have a direct impact on the lives of cocoa farmers and their families. Income generated from cocoa sales will help farmers maintain and expand their farms, pay school fees for their children, meet healthcare expenses, and address other essential household needs.
Speaking on the importance of the initiative, SCNL emphasized that empowering farmers through sustainable economic opportunities is key to achieving both environmental and community development goals.
The Ecological Restoration Fund continues to serve as a catalyst for community-driven development by supporting initiatives that promote environmental stewardship, economic growth, and improved livelihoods across Liberia.
SCNL remains committed to working with local communities, cooperatives, and partners to create lasting positive impacts for people and nature.
