Society for the Conservation of Nature of Liberia

BirdLife International.  SCNL is the BirdLife partner in Liberia and is part of numerous BirdLife initiatives in West Africa, Africa and globally.  In Liberia, SCNL is collaborating with BirdLife International to implement a project funded by the Aage V. Jensen Charity Foundation (Denmark) to realise the potential of the Gola National Park.  With support from the Arcadia Fund, BirdLife International provides core support and capacity development to SCNL.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB).  RSPB is the UK partner in BirdLife International and works together with SCNL on various BirdLife initiatives.  In Liberia, SCNL and RSPB are working together to implement the GolaMA Project – “Bringing Forest and People Together” – to establish community-managed forests to serve as corridors between protected areas.  RSPB is a strong supporter of SCNL, providing both significant core support and capacity development.

Conservation International (CI).  CI is an international environment organisation, empowering societies to responsibly and sustainably care for nature, our global biodiversity, for the well-being of humanity.  In Liberia, SCNL and CI are working together in the Nimba Mountains area, working with communities to establish conservation agreements.

The Forestry Development Authority (FDA), Government of Liberia.  The FDA’s mandate is to sustainably manage and conserve all forest resources in Liberia for the benefit of present and future generations.  Almost all of SCNL’s work is done in collaboration or connection with the FDA.

The GolaMA Project is financially supported by the European Union.
